This morning, Kim Clark, the former Dean of Harvard Business School and the current president of Brigham Young University - Idaho, spoke to the Utah Technology Council.
After giving his prepared remarks and taking questions, Richard Nelson, the President of UTC, asked President Clark to explain his choice to leave Harvard for BYU-Idaho. President Clark related the following story.
After accepting the position and announcing it publicly, President Clark reports that his colleagues at Harvard demonstrated "stunned disbelief." Shortly after the announcement, he was giving a previously scheduled speech in London. His handlers told him he must address the question of why he would make this unusual decision.
He explained to the audience that he had received a phone call from Gordon B. Hinckley, a man that he reveres as a prophet of God--just like Moses--and did what was asked.
