Since the beginning of January, our firm, the Thorpe Capital Group, has hired four women, including two interns, our new office Manager and a new analyst. We also hired one guy.

This circumstance caught me somewhat by surprise today when I went to lunch with the team, but I suppose it comes down the the caliber of the women I've had work for me in the past.

I've blogged about Petra Svet before, one of our former analysts who went to Lehman Brothers two years ago. She paved the way for the women who work in the firm now, by doing an outstanding job.

I'll update you on our new hires in the coming days.

Devin, AWESOME on hiring women! One of my concerns is making sure women of color have enough tools, research, and training to be able to compete for these types of positions.

I should point out to you, especially as you and I attended the same school, one of the new hires is a summer intern who is home from Cornell! I'm hoping she'll influence my son, who is choosing a college (I like to think of it that way, rather than that colleges will be choosing him) this year.
