The MWCN also recognizes a select group of younger companies that have not yet had five years of operating history for a comparison. These companies are measured primarily in terms of the level of revenue achieved along with the amount of venture capital attracted to the business. Past winners include LogoWorks, Xango and Forums Systems.
Finally, the MWCN recognizes the fastest growing companies in terms of absolute dollars of revenue increase. This allows Utah's largest companies to be recognized for continued patterns of growth. Past winners include Zions Bancorporation (Nasdaq: ZION) and Questar (NYSE: STR). I'm also proud to note that Thorpe Capital Group is not only a sponsor of the event this year is also a winner (#93) from 2005.
For the last two years, I also had the privilege of chairing the organizing committe for the event. I am pleased, especially, to have passed along the privilege to my good friend Todd Leishman at Durham Jones & Pinegar, who will chair the event this year and next.
