Although Dayton doesn't know what he'll choose for a major next year, if he had to choose today, he'd probably choose Economics.
We will be visiting the following schools on the trip:
Princeton University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Dartmouth College
Harvard University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Northwestern University
Stanford University
University of Southern California
University of California at Berkeley
As we visit the schools above, I'll note some of Dayton's reactions. What I would like from you, especially from students and alumni, are your thoughts on these schools--or suggestions for alternatives. Please post your comments or send me a note.
Note: You may wish to treat this series of posts as my vacation and pretend I just don't write or as being highly relevant to young, aspiring investment bankers like Corey Bethke, an intern in our office who attends Cornell University.

Congratulations to Dayton! So exciting!
He'll probably want to figure out what type of environment he feels comfortable in (rural, urban, college town, metropolis), as well as who he wants to associate with after graduation: alumni can be very helpful!
My sister studied music at Dartmouth and said it was a very safe and very typical East Coast experience, with small classes. I went to Cornell and had some difficulties with the weather and finding my niche on such a large campus; but it was a beautiful location with incredible connections to nature. My best friend went to MIT: extremely competitive, cold, the education was top notch for what she wanted to do (chemistry), and it's in the midst of a bustling city.
Stanford and Cal (UC Berkeley) are terrific places if Dayton wants to move to the West Coast. He'll probably get a feel for which campus best suits him when he visits.
Good luck!
