Most importantly, the report includes data on mergers and acquisitions and suggests a healthy volume of deals in Utah during the second quarter, showing $1.2 billion in M&A transactions, up from $549 million in the first quarter, but down from $2.5 billion in the second quarter of 2005.
The biggest deal of the quarter was the acquisition of vSpring's LANDesk by Avocent Corp (Nasdaq: AVCT) for $416 million. Energy Solutions, a Utah-based company, acquired Duratek, Inc. for $396 million.
