Father of Utah's Information Technology Industry, Ray Noorda, Dies
Ray Noorda, credited by many as the founder of Utah's information technology industry, died today.

Mr. Noorda founded Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL) in 1983 and ran the company until 1994.  After his retirement, he founded the Canopy Group, a information technology focused venture fund.

ray_noorda.jpgBorn in Utah, Mr. Noorda attended Weber State College and, after a two-year tour of duty in the Navy during World War II, he finished his college education at the University of Utah, graduating Cum Laude.

Mr. Noorda reportedly died of Alzheimer's disease.

Many of these details I pulled from Wikipedia.
