Jim and I had politics in common; not so much that we agreed on everything (though we agreed on most things) but that we both had an interest in politics. I had previously worked on Capitol Hill for Jake Garn, Utah's senior senator at the time. Jim had also grown up in politics--his father having served as Utah's Governor for a generation.
Jim, I guess that's Congressman Matheson to you and me, is a genuinely great guy. Moderate, independent and committed to serving Utah. There aren't many issues more important than energy and not many issues he knows better. Now he takes his business savvy to work in Washington.
At the risk of making my blog about middle market business suddenly too political, let me be clear: I endorse Jim Matheson's reelection campaign and hope he'll be returned to office again this year.
