Reading through some of the classic posts from Russ Page, I found a great post about public relations for Dell Schanze. This is old news, but an important and practical point.
Russ points out the relatively obvious fact that Dell is a capable businessman who needed a good PR counselor. Extending that thought, I conjecture that Dell could have saved his business and even done better in court with good PR help.
Just for context, I'll remind you that Dell ran the company Totally Awesome Computers and went out of business last summer amid a flurry of unrelated legal challenges.
Read Russ's post here.

Certainly a dose of good PR could have helped out Dell Shanze and Totally Awesome Computers, but I think his problems went beyond bad PR. I bought some of his computers, but the reasons why I didn't buy any more after my first purchases (which I've detailed on my own blog and which Dell himself has posted on in response--a must read) had nothing to do with his public persona but rather the quality of the computers themselves.
