Today was my last day to serve as the Chair of the University of Utah Business Alumni Association Board. The Board is a volunteer sort of Board, where we contribute more time than money to help the David Eccles School of Business.
I have loved every moment of my two-year term. The people with whom I work are among the brightest, hardest working and most noble people I've ever had the opportunity to know.
Jack Brittain, the Dean of the David Eccles School of Business and Vice President of Technology Venture Development at the University of Utah, has created an environment that rewards and recognizes ability, success and passion, resulting in developing a team that loves to go to work every day--and hates to come home.
I must show care in naming names. I have worked closely with more than a dozen people at the business school over the last two years, but perhaps most closely with two: Heidi Woodbury and Lindsay Nelson.
Heidi is the head of development for the school. Lindsay is part of her team. Heidi is one of those true never-say-die professionals you want on your team. She is in the middle of leading a $100 million dollar capital campaign and is doing a great job.
Lindsay is a bright young professional who is just starting in her career. It has been a pleasure to work with her. She really could run the Alumni Association all by herself. I know this because she tells everyone else what to do (politely of course). This was clear today, as I asked her at each step of the way what to do in the meeting.
The people with whom I've served on the Board are a great group of people that I am happy to count as friends. This great organization includes CEOs at the top of their careers and young professionals just getting started. It is a great organization.
If you are an alum of the David Eccles School of Bsuiness (or just a big fan of the U) and would like to get involved with us, please let me know. I can hook you up!
