The MountainWest Capital Network held it's annual deal flow event yesterday. The effort was led by venture capitalist Steve Grizzell, who did a wonderful job of planning and hosting the event.
The event featured five minutes from each of eight companies recognized as having completed notable deals. The fast-paced format provided the audience with a real insight into how great companies do great deals.
The following companies were recognized. Claredi Corporation, EnergySolutions, LLC, Infopia, Inc., LANDesk Software, Logoworks, Omniture (Nasdaq: OMTR), S5 Wireless, Inc. and Sonic Innovations (Nasdaq: SNCI).
I hate to pick favorites, but it is hard not to get excited about Josh James of Omniture, the youngest CEO of a Nasdaq listed company. He's done exceptionally well building what may be Utah's premier tech company (given that Altiris has agreed to be acquired).
Josh gave kudos to two MWCN Board members for helping him get started, both Tom Taylor who is the current chairman and John Knab, the CEO of Phonex. The real credit for growing Omniture goes to Josh and his long-time partner, John Pestana, but it is nice to see the positive impact that involvement with MWCN can have.
