Yesterday I attended a Cornell Entrepreneur Network event in Santa Monica, California. The event was held at a private beach club at sunset. Quite a venue!
I was most impressed with the attitudes of the folks at the event. Perhaps given that affiliation with Cornell provided a trustworthy screening, the crowd was wonderfully interactive. As people from aspiring novelists to studio executives and technology entrepreneurs introduced themselves, the atmosphere that pervaded the room was surpising. If someone said she was a novelist, she was a novelist--it didn't matter that the novel was still in development.
The presenter at the event was Farland Chang of WorldBizWatch.
Farland conducted a workshop to teach us all how to deal with the media. He keyed on the importance of storytelling and finding relevance to the target audience.
