My friend Jason Alba is celebrating the anniversary of his web service, JibberJobber, for helping people find manage the process of finding a job.
About starting the business, he said:
May 15th was an amazing day last year as I started a new phase in my life. I was still looking for a job, thinking that this would be a cool "side business," but the hype and buzz surrounding JibberJobber changed that and a few months later I decided to do this full-time.
Jason provided these highlights and milestones for JibberJobber over the last year:
Thousands and thousands of signups - coming from nowhere, with an entrepreneur's marketing budget, and with a novel idea that had a lot of people scratching their heads saying "I don't get it," I consider this to be quite a feat.
Prestigious partner relationships - in my old company we sold software to companies, not end users. While I'm still marketing to end users (professionals) I've started to develop partner relationships - these include IEEE (the largest association in the world) and some of the best resume writers and career coaches in the industry. It's very flattering to have these experts latch on to JibberJobber they way they have.
News coverage to be proud of - in the last year I've been featured in over 300 blogs, dozens of websites with some of my articles, the Wall Street Journal's Career Journal, NewsDay, and number of podcasts in the US and England.Opportunity to establish myself as an SME - okay, so perhaps I'm a Subject Matter Expert on "not being able to get a job" or "being depressed (or mad) because I'm unemployed" <grin>! Nonetheless, I've been able to participate in this industry in ways that I never imagined possible. From speaking (twice!) at the Career Master's Institute to blogging on CollegeRecruiter.com and SeattleRecruiting.com to being the national Job Search editor for The National Networking e-zine, it's been very, very cool.
Congratulations Jason!
